As AOPA Calls for Pilots to Rally for GA, Prescott, AZ Leads The Way

Recently, the AOPA has pushed to have pilots rally for general aviation.  Our response to the AOPA on this is, "We have been!  Take a look at what Prescott, Arizona has done!"

The City of Prescott, Arizona and it's airport, the Prescott Municipal Airport (KPRC) have been rallying for general aviation for years now with development of it's online aviation advocacy efforts through FlyPrescott.com. 

Prescott's online aviation advocate boasts a strong internet presence with a Facebook Page with over 1740 members, a statewide electronic news blog ( Arizona Aerospan ), Twitter page, and electronic newsletter and YouTube Channel.  Combined, this online media effort reaches tens of thousands of aviation enthusiasts, pilots and aviation businesses nationwide, with some international exposure as well.

Continuing it's support, the City of Prescott just released it's latest video, "Ernest A. Love Field" (below).  So, if you want to see a great example of a City and an airport rallying and supporting general aviation, take a look at the City of Prescott and FlyPrescott.com.

The Prescott Municipal airport (KPRC) is one of the busiest and most robust airports in the U.S.  Being the home to one of two campuses of the world reknown Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the Prescott airport is a very unique and busy flight training environment. KPRC is the fourth (4th) busiest general aviation airport in the state of Arizona and is the 40th busiest general aviation airport in the country.

It is also home to one of the busiest high altitude helicopter flight training facilities in the U.S., Guidance Helicopters, which also just opened a fixed wing training facility, Guidance Aviation.  Combine that with Prescott's North-Aire Aviation  and it's wide variety of aircraft as well as ArizAir Flight Training Center, you know why FlyPrescott refers to it as, "Where Pilots Are Born".

The Prescott Municipal Airport has an annual economic impact of approximately $68 million, providing valuable services beyond flight training to include mail, overnight packages, military support, search and rescue operations and the Forest Service support to name a few.  It is clear the Prescott Municipal Airport is a vital part of the Prescott community and the state of Arizona.

City of Prescott Promoting Aviation

In mid to late March, the City of Prescott, Az.
will be releasing it's video promoting the unique aviation assets of the City, the Prescott Municipal Airport (PRC). Slow Day in News calls for Relief

November, 2010 -
As many may be aware, based on tenant supplied information that persons were relieving themselves in the open on the North Ramp by the self service fuel island, the City recently relocated the North Ramp Port-a-John by about 1200 feet to the North from the entrance gate near the self-serve fuel island. Since then we have received several calls about the relocation of the port-a-john. Understanding the hardships of this port-a-john relocation and in an effort to provide superior customer service, the City has ordered another port-a-john to be delivered in the next few weeks. This port-a-john will be placed next to the entrance gate.

Prescott Flight Instructor Earns Master CFI

Master Instructors LLC takes great pride in announcing a significant aviation accomplishment on the part of Todd M Underwood, an Angel Flight wing leader, flight instructor with NorthAire Aviation at Prescott Regional Airport (PRC) and resident of Prescott, Arizona. Recently, Todd was accredited as a Master CFI (Certificated Flight Instructor) by Master Instructors LLC, the international accrediting authority for the Master Instructor designation as well as the FAA-approved "Master Instructor Programä."

To help put these achievements in their proper perspective, there are approximately 93,000 CFIs in the United States. Fewer than 700 of those aviation educators have achieved that distinction thus far. The last 15 national Flight Instructors of the Year were Master CFIs while Todd is one of only 24 Arizona teachers of flight to earn this prestigious "Master" title.

In the words of former FAA Administrator Marion Blakey, "The Master Instructor accreditation singles out the best that the right seat has to offer."

The Master Instructor designation is a national accreditation recognized by the FAA. Candidates must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence, professional growth, and service to the aviation community, and must pass a rigorous evaluation by a peer Board of Review. The process parallels the continuing education regimen used by other professionals to enhance their knowledge base while increasing their professionalism. Designees are recognized as outstanding aviation educators for not only their excellence in teaching, but for their engagement in the continuous process of learning -- both their own, and their students'. The designation must be renewed biennially and significantly surpasses the FAA requirements for renewal of the candidate's flight instructor certificate.
