FAA Admin Considering Fees for Low Time Pilots

Here come the User Fees in another form:

As reported in Aero News, FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt is reportedly considering tacking a surcharge onto renewal fees paid by pilots. The surcharges would be based on the number of hours a pilot flies in any given year.

I would check with the publishers of the article on that one. Just because news happens on April 1st, doesn't make it an April fools joke.

ANN supposedly issues an April fools joke every year. This is most likely one, although a better April fools joke would have been, "FAA no longer requiring 3rd class medicals as long as pilots have current drivers license."~ Then we'd know that would be a joke as the FAA wouldn't do something like that....we wish...
