Guidance Helicopters, Inc. in Prescott has donated a high-altitude four-seater helicopter to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office to help with daytime search and rescue efforts.
The Sheriff's Office has applied for $100,000 in grant money from the Public Safety Stabilization Program through the Arizona Governor's Office of Economic Recovery and plans to use $150,000 in drug seizure money to refurbish the 2005 model Robinson R44 Raven II helicopter, do the 2,200-hour overhaul, and equip it with radio and other necessary equipment, pending approval from the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 18.
