B17 Flyin May 8th, F-18 fly-bys, Self Serve Fuel, Discounts & PRC Updates

Legend Aviation would like to announce that we are back on our “Summer” hours of operation. This means the FBO is open as usual, 7 days per week from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Mustang Café is once again open 7 days per week from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

We have an exciting event coming up in May: for those of you who enjoy the “classic military” aircraft, Legend Aviation has been notified that a B17 and a B25 will be at our facility on May 8, 2010. Rides will be available to the public and Legend Aviation would like to invite the public to come out and enjoy the food (pancake breakfast will be offered by the EAA) and have fun. We hope to have some Static Warbirds on display, as well.

Additionally, for those of you that enjoy the “fast & furious” aircraft, we’ve been notified that four (4) F18’s are planning to be at the Prescott Airport over the Fourth of July weekend. Again, keep watching our Newsletter’s for additional information.

Finally, Legend Aviation is proud to announce that our “Self-Serve” station should be up and running by mid-April. For those of you who purchase fuel from Legend Aviation, you may be interested in joining the Prescott Airport Users Association (“P.A.U.A.”), because by becoming a P.A.U.A. member, you then become eligible to receive:

• .05 cents off per gallon, both self serve and/or calling for Legend’s fuel truck
• 10% off at the Mustang Café
• 10% off most items at Arizona Aviation Supplies (items not on sale)
• 5% off labor at Arizona Air Craftsman
• If you have the AirBP Visa Card, receive an additional .05 cents off per gallon
• By joining the P.A.U.A. you will automatically receive double the points
if you are a member, or join, the AirBP Bravo Rewards Program where you
earn points for every gallon you purchase that can be used towards prizes from AirBP

If you are interested in joining the P.A.U.A., signing up for the AirBP Bravo Rewards Program, or filling out an application for the AirBP Visa Card, please contact Legend Aviation and one of the Front Desk Associates can assist you in registering for the programs and to receive your membership “discount fuel card” (required to receive the above discounts).

Thank you for your continued support!

VARDIMAN'S VECTOR

Dear Airport Users,

I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an update on activities at the Prescott Municipal Airport .

A fresh coat of paint at the airport … I hope that you noticed the recent change in some of the pavement markings on the airport as we work to bring the markings up to standard.

The biggest change that you may have noticed has been the installation of a Dashed Taxiway Edge Marking along Taxiway Bravo and the North Ramp, Taxiway Foxtrot between Foxtrot 4 and Charlie, Taxiway Echo between Echo 4 and Charlie, Taxiway Foxtrot between Foxtrot 2 and 3, and Taxiway Charlie adjacent to the South Ramp. Other marking that has been going on includes repainting of the various runway hold short markings on the airport. We have focused on those markings which were in the worst condition and we will continue to work on getting the rest of the markings over the next couple of years. We appreciate your patience during the various closures of portions of the airfield while we complete this work. Funding for the equipment and materials was authorized by the City Council from the capital improvement fund for this Fiscal year. Please take time to express your appreciation to the members of the City Council for their support of the Airport.

Fire season draws closer … A quick reminder that fire season is drawing closer here in Arizona and with that comes some changes at the Prescott Municipal Airport. Taxiway Hotel is scheduled to be restricted to fire aircraft starting in the beginning of May.

Status of the State Aviation Fund …Attached you will find a letter from the Arizona Department of Transportation Director, Mr. John Halikowski, to the Aviation community regarding the most recent transfers from the State Aviation Fund to the State General Fund. Since July of 2008, the Legislature has diverted more than $40 million from the State Aviation Fund for use in the General Fund.

As you may or may not know, the State Aviation Fund was established in 1979 to provide funding for airport/aviation projects such as planning, design, and development, acquisition of land, construction, and improvement of publicly owned and operated airport facilities in counties and incorporated cities and towns in the State of Arizona . Projects such as pavement maintenance, hangar construction, and various other airport improvement projects are funded through the Stated Aviation Fund. State Aviation Fund Revenues are paid for solely by aviation users through the following sources:

Flight Property Tax;
Aircraft License (lieu) Tax;
Aviation Fuel Tax;
Grand Canyon Airport Revenue (to be used at the state owned Grand Canyon Airport );
Investment interest on the aviation fund balance and
Miscellaneous revenue sources such as lieu tax penalties and interest on tax collections.

I hope that this information is useful to you

Sincerely,
Benjamin Vardiman, ACE
